Volvo S40 may impress green ladies
Women drivers keen to do everything possible to reduce their carbon footprint may be impressed by the achievement of a Volvo model.
The S40 1.6D DRIVe has been named the What Car? number one green auto.
Steve Fowler, editor of the magazine, said the model offers everything an eco-friendly vehicle should.
"Its low emissions don't come at the expense of quality, safety or driver enjoyment - and it's great value too," he explained.
The car is fitted with a Start/Stop system that improves fuel economy by automatically switching off the engine when the vehicle comes to a standstill.
As a result of the unit, the model boasts CO2 emissions of 104 g/km and can achieve 72.4 mpg on the combined cycle.
The S40 1.6D DRIVe is available for £13,118 under the scrappage scheme - a discount of £4,377.
However, environmentally-aware female motorists who cannot afford to trade in their current model may find they can ensure their vehicle is running as efficiently as possible by booking regular car servicing appointments.
