Will electric cars solve congestion? Campaign group thinks not
Electric cars may be a greener option for those concerned about their carbon footprint but there is one thing they will not solve, according to an industry group.
The Campaign for Better Transport said congestion will still be a problem and could even get worse as more vehicles are predicted to hit the roads in coming years.
Traffic jams are still a concern and they need sorting as well as the environment, said roads and climate campaigner for the organisation Richard George.
He explained better public transport and accessibility would cause fewer people to drive and therefore traffic would decrease.
"[Electric cars are] not going to solve all the problems that we have with transport. It's not just CO2 emissions, there are pollutants generally, also the fear of traffic that people have," Mr George added.
Although neither male nor female drivers might specifically from an electric car, it may be worth looking into for those who are interested.
