FOXY Newsdesk Women drivers may be impressed by move towards green motoring
By choosing a garage or dealership that has signed the female friendly FOXY Promise© women drivers can avoid being patronised, overcharged or mis-sold services at MOT, car servicing or vehicle repair times.
Female motorists who prioritise green credentials when buying a vehicle may be impressed to hear 50 per cent of all European new cars now boast average CO2 emissions of 130 g/km.
Statistics from automotive data provider Jato Consult showed this is up from 39 per cent two years ago and 24 per cent in 2003.
However, the company pointed out there was still more to be done if the motor industry was to meet European Union targets.
It explained the sector has been set the challenge of making sure 100 per cent of cars offer average CO2 emissions of 130 g/km by 2015.
Business manager David Di Girolamo said manufacturers may face difficulties, as vehicle buyers are not necessarily concerned about minimising their impact on the planet.
He claimed: "The requirements for the ongoing improvement in vehicle safety ... and the increasing desire for higher levels of standard equipment are ... at odds with reducing weight and, therefore, emissions."
Last November, Jato Consult reported the number of new cars sold in Europe fell by 25.3 per cent.
