Foxy lady drivers in Hertfordshire will soon get the chance to put their motoring skills to the test with the annual Ladies' Driving Challenge.

Run by the county fire and rescue service, the event sees money raised for the Fire Fighters Charity while giving women the chance to drive the likes of JCBs, buses, fork lifts, snow ploughs, recovery vehicles and a hovercraft.

"Women will have the opportunity to drive some truly amazing vehicles which they would not normally get the chance to and raise funds for a worthwhile cause at the same time," said Cathy Clark, the national fundraising officer for the charity.

Taking place on Sunday June 8th, the event regularly attracts repeat visitors, who return to try their hand at driving a new vehicle the following year.

The Ladies' Driving Challenge will be held at the Bovingdon Airfield, near Hemel Hempstead.

Recently it was announced that women's under-representation in certain fields - including the motor industry - was to be tackled through further funding for the Women and Work Sector Pathways Initiative.
