Women 'more interested' in environmental concerns 11 March 08
Men are more likely than women to be "bored" by media coverage concerning CO2 emissions, according to recent research, suggesting female motorists could be more environmentally switched on when it comes to their car.
A YouGov survey, carried out on behalf of the Environmental Transport Association (ETA), has highlighted that around a quarter (24 per cent) of men have had enough of such coverage, compared with 12 per cent of women.
Some 30 per cent of all respondents suggested there was too much coverage concerning CO2 emissions.
"It's understandable that people are getting bored by endless green talk that is never translated into action - increasing public apathy is a real concern for those of us in the environmental movement," said Andrew Davies, director at the ETA.
More than 2,000 adults were interviewed by YouGov for the research.
A recent poll by British Car Auctions suggested that female motorists were slightly behind men when it came to how much environmental concerns affected their used car-buying habits.
