Japanese car manufacturer Honda has produced a leaflet offering tips to female motorists on how to drive safely.

According to Reuters, the Japanese-language leaflet contains instructions and advice on a range of issues, including filling a car with petrol, parking and driving safely at night.

"We would like to let all women know how to drive safely. We would like to minimise accidents of women drivers," a Honda Motor spokesman said, Reuters reports.

The spokesperson also rebuffed what he suggested was an outdated concept that women are worse drivers than men, saying "we don't think so", when quizzed on the subject.

Honda's leaflet also offers advice on transporting children and pets, saving fuel, and environmental issues and discusses ageing female motorists.

The company's appearance at the Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland saw the debut of the new Honda Accord, with both saloon and Tourer models making their European premieres.

Ten examples of the new Honda were on display at the motor show, which concludes on Sunday.
