Women drivers - a motoring club for women
After her student daughter had a bad garage experience far from home, FOXY Founder Steph Savill did her homework about garages and discovered that
- Industry complaints about shoddy garage services cost an estimated £4 billion each year; the equivalent of some £150 for each and every woman driver in the UK;
- The government's own mystery shopping exercises found that nearly half of all UK garages failed to do a good enough job, leaving some cars in a dangerous state;
- UK garages and dealerships don't have to be licensed to repair cars;
- Mechanics don't have to be qualified to mend cars... unlike gas fitters or electrical engineers;
- More women drivers than men were found to have been overcharged and patronised than men;
- Most of her friends found garages, dealerships and car showrooms to be intimidating and often unfriendly places for women drivers.
Steph wanted to be sure that other women drivers, no matter their age, could rely on safe garages in future and avoid being overcharged, patronised or sold services they didn't need in future.
Her business solution was a motoring support service for women drivers called FOXY Lady Drivers Club working with the best garages and dealerships that have signed the female friendly FOXY Promise© stating “We will never knowingly overcharge, patronise or sell our customers services they do not need or want.”
FOXY Classic online membership for women drivers costs £20 per annum, plus a one-off £3 joining fee. This subscription is instantly repaid by a free accident assistance package worth £25 providing professional claims advice and up to £50k legal fees. Other benefits include free quarterly car fitness checks worth £60, MOT and car servicing offers at female friendly garages and a motoring support helpdesk for practical advice and information about women's car insurance, new cars and everyday motoring bills.
