Classic wedding cars

Natalie TA Wedding

With so much attention focused on weddings, how you arrive on the day is surely almost as important as who you are with or marrying. Which is why Natalie Turner’s stylish choice of two Citroen Traction Avant (TA) cars made for an impressive choice on her big day.

The bride travelled in a 1936 TA limo with her bridesmaids following hot on her heels in a 1949 TA Light 15.

Natalie explained: “It’s impossible not to be enthusiastic about classic cars working at Footman James Insurance and it seemed only fitting that I should honour this on my wedding day! We had so many comments about them on the day; they were definitely the right choice for such an occasion. We were absolutely delighted with the continental touch and the photos will have pride of place in our new home!”

The 1936 Traction Avant Limousine is a French classic car, manufactured by Citroen from 1934 to 1957. Natalie’s car was one of the earlier models, having been made in 1936 at the Quai de Javel car plant in Paris. A left hand drive, the limousine version means extra classic luxury for the driver and up to five passengers.

Natalie’s bridesmaids were transported in the Citroen Traction Avant Light 15 model, manufactured between 1934 and 1957. Their car – a right hand drive – was built in 1949 at the UK Slough factory and is highly sought after because of its stylish design, red leather seats, wooden dashboard and trim.

Both cars were hired from Avant Wedding Cars, based in Swindon and the wedding between bridegroom Chris Turner and Natalie took place at St Mary’s Church in Kingswinford, followed by a reception at the Mercure Kidderminster in Bewdley.

Foxes learning to drive in London

FOXESGrammy Award winning artist, Foxes, has teamed up with Citroën and will be learning to drive in the stylish New Citroën C1 city car.

I’m ashamed to say I hadn’t heard of her before but that’s because there’s a c30 year age gap between us I suspect, and I have a son not a daughter who might keep me more up to date here.

Her driving instructor is celebrity-inclined Noel Gaughan who has taught Adele and Niall Horan from One Direction (who I have heard of…)!

Foxes, whose real name is Louisa Rose Allen, is a good judge of cars and tells us why it’s a Citroen for her…

“I’m really excited to learn to drive and I love the look of the C1. Driving is a life skill that will open up a whole new world of independence for me. I live in London so a city car is exactly what I need. I’m nervous about sitting my test, but I’m getting lots of support and everyone’s really excited to finally see me driving.”

The intensive driving course marks the start of an exciting time for Foxes, as she also prepares to release the first single from the highly anticipated follow-up to her debut album ‘Glorious’.

Foxes has a diverse portfolio that includes appearances on the Radio 1 Live Lounge and BBC’s Doctor Who, as well as musical collaborations with Rudimental, Fall Out Boy and Giorgio Moroder, along with a European tour supporting Pharrell Williams on his ‘Dear Girl’ tour in 2014.

And whilst I doubt she’ll be counting the pennies by the sound of things, if YOU wanted to buy a C1 at a great deal you can find out which C1s are part of our 10% discount scheme for Club members

More pink for Citroen in 2014

After their cooperation with Benefit Cosmetics culminating in an ultra pink concept car (a bit of fun and a matter of taste) Citroen is off again with another variation of pink… but this time it seems more subtle!

DS3_pink_black

The DS3 Pink is exclusive to the UK and goes on sale this month.

We’re talking about a fuchsia pink roof, door mirrors and wheel centre caps with the colour continuing inside the cabin, with a fuchsia dashboard and a colour coded gear lever knob.

As you can see, DS3 Pink versions are available with Polar White or Perla Nera Black body colours and feature additional specification above and beyond the existing DStyle and DSport equipment levels. There are four engines to choose from across the two trim levels.

The DS3 DStyle Pink comes with 16-inch ‘Ashera’ Black or White alloy wheels – to match the chosen body colour – as well as a hifi system upgrade with additional speakers on top of the usual DStyle specification. Meanwhile, the range-topping

Finally the DSport Pink has 17-inch ‘Bellone’ Black or White alloys, plus the addition of a ‘City Signature’ pack, which includes automatic headlights and wipers, rear parking sensors, heated and electric folding door mirrors and a front central armrest.

ENGINE OPTIONS & PRICES

DS3 DStyle Pink is available with either a VTi 120 petrol engine or an e-HDi 90 Airdream diesel powerplant that produces just 95g/km of CO2.

The DS3 DSport Pink is powered by a punchy and THP 155 petrol engine or an impressively efficient e-HDi 115 Airdream diesel engine – both come with a 6-speed manual transmissions.

What do you REALLY REALLY need to wash cars?

DS5_arsenalAccording to Citroën you need sponge ball boys to do a good car cleaning job – and after the evidence I’m tempted to agree with them.

As Official Car Supplier of Arsenal, Citroën hatched a cunning seasonal plan recently. Knowing the time is right for us to wash our cars in case summer puts in an unexpected appearance, they’ve carried out some research to see what is the best and most environmentally efficient way to clean our cars.

And by the looks of things, you need sponge ball boys to do this properly!

Gosh – this is ground breaking research that female car washers will welcome I feel sure…

Now that Arsenal players have some time on their hands before the Premiership and European Leagues kick into action again, Citroën asked first team players Per Mertesacker, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud to contribute towards this scientific study into the ultimate ‘premier’ car wash, allowing Club captain Thomas Vermaelen the final word.

The survey results proved that dirty and bigger cars used more water than less dirty smaller ones but the height of the washer proved inconclusive, leading me to assume the less tall washer(s) used a step to reach the centre of the roof like me.

More importantly and all part of the manufacturer’s quirky take on motoring, this all reminds us about Citroën’s stylish cars which is a much needed sideshow for a still-smarting Newcastle United fan after Sunday’s end of season game…

And I suppose those very same ball boys may well receive a call up for Wimbledon?

Oh yes, if you want to find out what Thomas Vermaelen thought about all this, you have to watch the video – to see how car cleaning should be done of course.
