We admire all fast women motorists who race, demonstrating the confidence, ability and determination to drive competitively. Like Laura Tillett who comes from Maidstone in Kent…
Laura has been involved in motor racing from the age of 11. She started in go-karts then graduated to single seater racing cars. She was the first British female to compete in the FIA World Karting Championships.
Laura’s career took up a new direction when she decided to enter single seater racing.
In 2012 she competed for the first time in racing cars, in the British BARC Formula Renault Championship alongside a male grid of 32 boys.
Competing here for the first time, few expected her to do as well as she did in her single seater racing car.
This lead to an exciting invitation for her to compete in the 2013 MRF Racing Championship involving races in Qatar, Bahrain and India.
Having moved up another gear in racing terms this league included more experienced racing drivers who were familiar with the circuits concerned and style of racing. Despite these odds, she was recognised for her evident talent with an invite to compete in the undercard sessions (the preview races) of the 2013 Indian Grand Prix at the end of the season. This was a great compliment, the highlight of her season and a huge learning experience.
Laura was invited back to race again in 2014 where she competed against the sons of Nikki Lauda and James Hunt. Up against a masculine field of more famous names than hers, Laura finished the season strongly in 17th place out of 24 – “ahead of one Freddie Hunt…” she hastens to add.
Laura will now compete in the VW Cup for Team Hard and is the only female on the grid in 2015. This will get her further up the rankings and towards her ambition of racing in the major competitions in Europe.

Sadly women get little recognition for their talent compared to their male counterparts but one of these days the tables will be turned. Laura accepts this challenge and has many male fans encouraging her to stay the course. These include familiar names such as John Surtees and Johnny Herbert among others.
Laura has been sponsored by Puma since she was young and is well versed in the media world. She has given many interviews and in some cases has even interviewed the stars of the sport (and we’d be happy to carry these interviews here of course…).
Other sponsors have included Point Racing, ET Fashions and Tillett Racing Seats.
