Rebecca Jackson is a British race car driver, TV presenter, motoring journalist, brand ambassador, fitness guru, world record holder, multiple trophy winner, soon to be children’s writer and former used car sales business owner.
Clearly a busy and knowledgeable woman about all aspects of motoring, Rebecca is the perfect FOXY Lady to catch up with and find out what’s happening in motorsport and in automotive in general – when she’s either on the track or in front of a camera.
Here’s what she told us about her summer events programme so far.
“Another busy few weeks for me. In between filming for my new TV show, I ventured down to Sussex for the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed – a mechanical mecca for any self-respecting petrolhead. Driving up the iconic Goodwood hill is a bucket list fantasy for most drivers, and I was spoilt this year with drives in the BMW M2 Concept Car, a McLaren 720S and an Aston Martin DB11 Volante. Another highlight was a passenger ride in a £2.5 million Ferrari FXXK Evo.
“I also attended The Supercar Event in aid of The Children’s Trust this month. This incredible annual festival is held at Rockingham Speedway and gives visitors the chance to ride in some of the world’s best and most exotic cars. I was happy to give my time to commentate the event and give some passenger hot laps in a Lamborghini around the famous circuit.
“The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with a brain injury, supporting thousands of children and families across the country every year. More than 40,000 children across the UK are left with a brain injury each year after an accident or illness, and the charity provides rehabilitation at their national specialist centre in Surrey.
“I also attended Cars in the Park for Midlands Air Ambulance with my sponsors, M6 Toll. The Midlands Air Ambulance charity funds and operates three air ambulances serving six Midlands counties - Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands, as well as providing secondary cover to the surrounding areas, such as Warwickshire and mid Wales. The M6 Toll crosses the border between two of these counties (Shropshire and Staffordshire) so we were more than happy to get involved.
“It was a lovely day meeting lots of young (and not so young) car enthusiasts, signing autographs and pictures. We even gave away a competition prize of a hot lap in a Porsche with me driving. If you fancy a hot lap with me, I now offer these at my website.”
“Modern Herbie was also on display at event. I was lucky enough to race this fantastic car at Silverstone. Unfortunately, a mechanical failure meant we failed to make qualifying, so we started at the back of the field. However, we did manage to move up from P38 to P23 in an exhilarating few laps only for our progress to come to an abrupt halt as we broke down. We faired better in our next race, starting 17th out of 28 and finishing a respectable 13th.
“I also found time this month to speak on BBC Radio about disabled parking bays and permits and Talk Radio about Ferraris and Supercars, as well as filming a car review for What Car? My latest one has just gone live, so if you are thinking of buying a Vauxhall Mokka make sure you watch this video first.”
