Here’s a road test of three budget SUVs – the Dacia Duster, the Suzuki Vitara and the Jeep Renegade.
The car reviewers are Vicki Butler-Henderson, AutoTrader’s resident petrolhead and racing driver; Erin Baker, a motoring journalist for 15 years and motoring mum; plus Rachael Hogg, Auto Trader’s digital content editor and Millennial.
SUVs are very popular and most manufacturers seem to offer them so it’s a highly competitive market.
We imagined the Jeep might win on looks, were that the only criteria. However the Renegade came in last in this review. We also suspect the Vitara would have done better had the reviewers been members of FOXY Lady Drivers Club and benefited from our fab affinity discounted offers.
On this occasion, the Dacia Duster rose to the challenge and occasion, based on its clear price advantage and added ‘charm’ into the bargain.
Sadly, all models fared badly re the three mug utility test – by this I mean carrying three mugs of drinks in the roomy back seats. I can’t imagine why you’d want to do this other than for a visual joke on Erin, but you certainly won’t want to try this for yourself after seeing the state of the tea trays (and her drenched knees) afterwards!!
